Tea… Cake… Selfies… Giggles… Bloggers!
Today was my first #hullbloggersmeet with the Hull Bloggers at Liquid Jade and I really enjoyed the afternoon, meeting new faces and having a good ol’ natter over a cup of tea (or three!). The purpose of these meet ups are (as well as eat cake and drink tea) to network and discuss tips and queries about the world of blogging. For a fairly recent newbie, this was something I was really looking forward to!
The day itself
I arrived at Liquid Jade a tad bit late while carrying my bag full of donations for The Purple House, and was met by Courtney (@retroandthrift) who showed me to the table where there were bucket lists to do throughout the day, and a running order of the day. Then I grabbed a Peppermint Tea and joined a table at random, where I met Leigh (@leighcampbell_), Amy (@callmeamye) & Megan (@meganevekilv). We had such a giggle talking about everything, from Pie’s next flavour to what we do outside the blogging world. There was also a photo booth… which just HAD to have some silly photos with us!
it didn’t just stop with tea and cake (which – FYI – was AMAZING!) – but we held a raffle where there were amazing prizes from Aloha Lola Cards, Nanshy, That Lame Company and many more! All proceeds, as well as donated goods we brought in, will be going to The Purple House – a safe haven for women in Hull who may be experiencing issues with domestic violence. I won a card from That Lame Company which I’m going to put in my new office at work!
Furthermore, we also had a bloggers workshop where we talked about social media, blogger’s block and photography. It was great to discuss any struggles we face with these (including my bad habit of not scheduling posts!!) and some tips that would go on to help us massively. This included the card hub and understanding how to switch accounts easily on Instagram – much to the relief of Mars!
At the end of the meet up, we all got our very own goodie bags which included;
- £5 gift card from Tessies
- Discount stuff from various companies such as Lobster Homeware
- HB tote bag
- Nanshy fan brush
- Rings and a fabric band from Tessies
- Fresh breath oral spray from Ultra Dex
It’s been a lovely Sunday afternoon with everyone and I would definitely recommend attending these meet ups if you’re a blogger! Especially if there’s tea and cake on offer… which Liquid Jade is amazing for! Not only does the food and cake taste divine, but the decor in the cafe is adorable – from light bulb fairy lights, to Janis Joplin’s quote corner. I will definitely be returning 🙂
